The terms innovative, leader, hardworking, strong and successful have long been used to describe the Atlanta homebuilding industry. This is a result of those who strive to make a difference in their personal success, thereby helping to insure the success of the industry.



Many have chosen to lead from the front lines, bringing attention to industry issues and highlights. Others have chosen to work behind the scenes, working to implement a positive industry assisting the economic growth and development of Atlanta. One has chosen to lead by example.

   Born in Bostwick, Georgia, Carl Riden has been a leader for most of his life. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Riden’s “lead by example” philosophy has followed him from the jungles of Vietnam, where as a platoon leader he received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars, to the Atlanta homebuilding industry, where he has, since 1977, been a shining light of inspiration to all who would follow.

   Riden started his company, Carl Riden, Inc., with the idea that an organization could achieve success management, good staff, patience and caring for those who came into his life. From his employees to his homeowners, Riden has always taken an active role in insuring their happiness and satisfaction. To Riden, growth and success mean progressing to a level where mistakes aren’t made, and where customers and employees are always satisfied. Leading by example, Riden has held many offices within the HBA including vice president and president of the Gwinnett Chapter. Riden has also been a member of the HBA board of directors, HBAG’s board of directors and currently sits on the NAHB’s board of directors. In his free time, Riden enjoys working in the yard with his wife Erika and spending time with their family snow skiing or visiting the farm.

   The Atlanta homebuilding industry takes pride in acknowledging Riden as a leader for the industry. Reaping the benefits of his experience, dedication and talents, the Atlanta homebuilding industry will continue to lead the nation into the 21st century.
